best things about having boys

I totally thought I would of been a mom of girls.  After the first, I thought the next one will be a girl.

After the 2nd, I knew the next one was a girl…but, I ended up with 3 boys and I am loving and appreciating it more and more every day!  God knew exactly what to give me and what I would be good at and I guess that is being a mom to boys.

10 Reasons I Love Having Boys

1.  They don’t need to be entertained.

Boys have the greatest imaginations.  They don’t need you to sit and play with them every second of the day.  They can literally play with a stick for hours on end.  It’s truly amazing.

2.  They move on so easily.

Sometimes I wish this was possible for us women, but I’m just not made that way.  Boys can be upset about something and, be over it in a few minutes.  They can be mad at someone one day and be best friends with the same person the next day.

3.  They aren’t overly emotional.

My middle son is so sensitive and has such a compassionate heart.  At the same time, I see that my boys just aren’t emotional about much of anything.  Nothing completely devastates them. When they are upset and cry, they can easily turn it off in 2 minutes.

In my house, I’m the only basket case!

4.  They laugh easily.

Boys seriously laugh at everything! Any moment can be turned into a silly situation.  Disgusting things are funny to them. They constantly distort their voices or faces to make someone else laugh.  This seems to be their number one goal. Laughter.

5.  Public restrooms are a breeze.

There is no lining the toilet or worrying about half of the germs.  Boys can easily adapt to any restroom.

6.  Dressing them is easier & cheaper.

There are not many opinions and negotiations with boys and their clothes.  It’s hard to even get them to match half the time.  Overall, it’s just a simpler process and they don’t need accessories, headbands or stockings so it’s cheaper.

7.  Everything is about having the most fun.

Boys love to get dirty, and find ways to have fun in every situation.  They have a ton of energy that is rooted in the need to find joy and fun in every scenario.

Definitely a lesson I can learn from them.

8.  They are easier to get out the house on time.

I don’t have to do any hair except my own so getting out of the house is easier altogether.  They really just have to get dressed and brush their teeth.  Not to say we don’t have our mornings but, on a normal basis it’s not too bad.  The older they get the easier it is.

9.  You get a deeper understanding of your husband.

My husband loves having boys so much because, every day is like a walk down memory lane.  I have gained such a deeper understanding of how boys/men think and operate.  Also, I’ve learned to really appreciate the differences from myself.

10.  They love their mama’s in a special way.

All children love their mama’s in a beautiful way.  While I am still learning about my boys,  I have talked to many mom’s who have raised boys.  They all agree that boys grow up with a deep, overprotective, and appreciative love for their moms.  I am seeing this already. They constantly check to make sure all is well with mama. It breaks their hearts when I’m upset or sick.

I have learned to embrace and appreciate being the only woman in my house.  I truly love having boys.  I grew up with one sister, so our home was all girls and one guy.  I knew nothing about boys but I can say I am enjoying this journey of raising them.

I pray God continues to give me and my husband wisdom on raising them to be mighty men for God.   I find myself constantly praying “God please help me connect with each of them individually.”  I don’t have all the answers. However, God will equip me with what I need to be the mother they need.

Stay encouraged mamas! God didn’t make any mistakes! He gave you the exact children that you were meant to have! You are exactly what your child needs 🙂

I loved reading this! But I must say, I have a 1-year old son who’s overly emotional. I don’t think if it’s going to change when he’s a little bit older. My 2-year old daughter on the other hand, isn’t. Lol

I have a son and a daughter and I think in the toddler stage, a boy is harder. But I’m thinking it will flip during those teen years. There’s nothing like the way boys love their mommas!

Reply

Yes! That is what everyone says and I have seen that is totally true.

Right!! I love being a boy mom! (I also have a little girl) but it’s funny the awesome things he brings to the table!! I would say #4 is his speciality! He loves to laugh! Which in turn brings lots of extra happiness and is a great reminder not to take life too seriously! XOXO

I started keeping a list of the items here that I agreed with most! Then I quickly threw it away, I agree with all of this! I have a boy (first) than a girl, and let me tell you, my son is much easier. Of course there are pro’s to both (not playing favorites) but boys, man, they’re so breezy and casual! Great, fun post Jehava!

Reply

LOL Yes there are definitely pros to both! They are fun though!

Reply

I can definitely relate to this as my first is an 18 month old boy right now! I see so much with his passionate play that makes a lot of sense with what i see with my husband too!

Reply

Yes! It’s awesome to see their similarities!

Reply

haha this is so true!!! Even though mine are young… my girl and boy are so different…. and I see a lot of these already!! He is so much more laid back!

Reply

LOL That’s awesome you got one of each!

I have to confess that when I found out that our second child was a son, I didn’t have any words. I had no idea what to do with a son or how to raise one. I did find out in the past year that as far as basic needs, boys and girls have the same needs in the first year of life. As he becomes older, while he is much more active than my daughter, he is also way more mellow than my daughter. My favorite point was number 9. Having a son has already given me a deeper understanding of my husband. Thank you so much for writing this!

Reply

Yes the first year is the same all around lol but it’s exciting to see the differences as they grow!

Loved reading your post. I’m a boy mom with a new baby girl at home. I love that my little man is so content playing on his own, or with me. It makes life with a new baby so much nicer.

I love this! I recently had my first boy after 4 girls. I DID NOT want a boy. The minute I laid eyes on him…..I still can’t stop thanking God enough for my son. It’s so amazing to see the differences between boys and girls. I have a special bond with my boy and I love it.

Reply

Aww wow! You are simply amazing! That’s so sweet.

Ah so true, boys love their mommas in such a different way. My son makes sure I’m taken care of before he goes on to free time…he’s such a seeet boy ❤

They seem easier until the teen years. Those hormones can be all over the place. They show up in a different manner, bit are still ever present. Xoxo

Reply

Yes they do! 🙂

Reply

Oh my word, so beautiful!!! I have one son right now and a girl due in 3 weeks. I absolutely love being a boy mom and everything he has taught me in the past year and a half. I grew up with all brothers so I was certain I’d be just a boy mama…well I think God has other plans for me! 😉 I’m a little nervous doing the whole girl thing but I know God will also teach me a lesson through that sweet little girl! Thanks for this post. Your boys are darling!

Reply

Aww thanks so much!! You will do a perfect job at both I’m sure! You have what they need!

Reply

My son is only one so I have not found these yet but am very much looking forward to not being as emotional. With my girls they cry over everything!

Reply

LOL! Yes they both have their pros and cons !

Reply

HAHA! Yes, yes and YESSSS! I can relate SO well to your post, having 2 myself 😉 Although mine are still young, they are easier to dress and all about action! ALWAYS on the go and looking to have fun. Sometimes I just don’t know how I’m keeping up – by the grace of God, Im sure of it!

Reply

LOL! Yes it’s a fun journey!

Reply

They seem like wonderful boys and as a Mama of all girls I see what you mean about girls !! I love them dearly though.

Reply

Thanks so much!

I have 2 boys, and I ADORE them! Boys make me laugh with how active and busy they are. Everything is a race, a competition, a death-defying stunt, a rescue operation…mine surely are dramatic in their own way. 🙂 And p.s. – your boys have the most brilliantly beautiful smiles!

Reply

LOL!! I love that! So true! Thanks so much!

Reply

Having boys is the best! Great article!

Reply

Yes it is!

Reply

Such a sweet article….coming from a girl mom. I have never heard anyone say #7 all of my girlfriends with boys complain about finding nice things for boys versus girls. However with all the girl hormones from my littles….I wouldn’t mind trading tutu meltdowns for a football shirt.

Reply

LOL There are amazing things about either sex you have! I just love the hand I was dealt 🙂

Reply

Just the other day I was telling my mom how’ve thankful I ask that my little one was a boy. Everyone around me thought it would be a girl but I MYSELF AM SUCH A boy’s girl lol. I don’t know if my next will be a girl it we shall lo see see.

Reply

LOL! Aww you are perfect for what your kids need!

Reply

Awe I love this!!! Sometimes I think about wanting a little girl – but the teenage years terrify me! Haha. I do love having a little boy and love how much fun he is!

Reply

LOL! Thanks girl! Yes exactly!

Reply

It was cheaper dressing my boys until my oldest decided to become a lil sneaker head. He is 7 years old. My girls aren’t too bad because they always have a bunch of girly stuff on clearance etc but then it gets costly when she wants accessories lol. very cute blog post!

Reply

LOL! Yes I’m hoping mine don’t love shoes too much! LOL

Reply

I think it depends on how you raise your child on if there is much a difference in some of these. I was a tomboy with only brothers, so I don’t think that my mom saw much of a difference between my brothers and I in these aspects. That being said, I’m expecting my firstborn -a son- this summer, so I’ll find out first hand.

Reply

Yes that is true..but there are some gender differences. Both are to be appreciated. Considering I’m a girl and think we are pretty amazing as well! Congrats!
