My purse has changed so dramatically over the years.  For a while, it went from containing 100% of my stuff to containing 100% of my kids stuff.  Over the years, I’ve become a little more balanced.

Now, it’s more like 90% their stuff. 10% mine.

I have learned what I really need when leaving the house, but there have been some items that took me a while to realize that every mom should have with her at ALL times.  It may seem like a simple list, but it took some pretty big fails to learn I needed to always have these things.

1.  Kleenex

There are a million scenarios where I did not carry tissues with me and needed them for my kids. Why did this take me so long to get?! Kleenex tends to fix 90% of my problems out of the house.  Now, there is this super cute pack you can take along with you anywhere.  You can easily pick up Kleenex Go Anywhere packs at your local Wal-Mart.

5 things not to leave home without

They are great for an “on-the-go” mom like me and the package is super convenient for running around with my kids this summer.  I love packaging that makes my life easier, and my kids can easily carry these for me, or I can hook them to the back of the seat to keep in the car.

2.  Snacks.

I grab some kind of snack every time I leave the house.  Again, easily packaged stuff is my jam. So things like fruit snacks and cheese sticks are my “go-to.”

3.  Hand Sanitizer

Again, this took me way to long to realize it was a necessity.  There are so many times that washing their hands is just not feasible and hand sanitizer saves the day.  Grab a small bottle to keep in your car at all times.

4.  Drinks.

I usually don’t bring drinks for everyone, but keeping a spare water bottle in my car has been a life changer.  There have been too many meltdowns and drama caused by forgetting a drink at home.  Putting an extra drink in the glove box for any time you’re in a rush is so helpful.

5.  Lotion.

This is never a priority to my boys.  There are many times my kids go out with super dry legs.  In black children it pretty much looks like there is chalk rubbed all over their legs.  This doesn’t bother them the least bit, but that is why they have a mother.  Yet, I forget to bring it constantly.  This is when travel size containers come in so handy.

I have learned the hard way that I should never leave the house without these 5 simple things.  Grab travel size containers, and simple items you can grab in a hurry like Kleenex Go Anywhere packs.

…And don’t forget your coupon to use at your local Wal-Mart.

All of these are always in the car where they can be reached and used all the time. My purse over the years sounds like yours. I have finally downsized some.

I never have hand sanitizer and I totally should. My mom thinks I am a crazy person for not ALWAYS having some!! My three year old just always seems to find it and use the whole bottle at once while I’m not looking!!

Amazing how the content of our purses change after having kids. You are so much more organized then I am. The one thing I make sure I always have is wipes. Even with older kids, they are so useful.
